  • Muda central executive member Rashifa Aljunied criticised Community Communications Department (J-Kom) director-general Hisyamuddin Ghazali’s remarks on the agency’s perceived role as a frontline fighter in defending Prime Minister Anwar Ibrahim and the Madani government.

In a statement, she argued that this framing is inappropriate, as J-Kom is a public institution funded by taxpayers, not a political party’s communications arm.

She also pointed out that criticising the government is a normal and necessary part of democracy, and citizens must be free to express disagreement and scrutiny without being treated as opponents or enemies of the state.

Rashifa further warned that describing a government communications agency as a “fighter” risks blurring the line between public service and political defence.
