Johor polls

  • Dr Mahathir Mohamad has called on Malays to vote for Malay candidates instead of being beholden to party loyalty if they want “Tanah Melayu” to remain as such.

“Malays' loyalty is to the Malays. If this loyalty is given to parties or factions, then Tanah Melayu will be gone.

“Without Tanah Melayu, Malays will disappear from this world. Malays will be a people without a country,” the former premier said on Facebook last night.

While the post was framed as a warning for the general election, it coincides with the upcoming Johor polls, where PAS has also issued a similar clarion call to ensure Malay Muslims govern the state.

  • Johor voters curious about Parti Bersama Malaysia can now summon candidates for them to evaluate them personally.

    Bersama leader Rafizi Ramli

Party co-leader Rafizi Ramli said invitations can be extended via Bersama’s website - be it for a casual chat, community event, or site inspection.

Rafizi touted this as a means to ensure that campaigns are free from questionable donor funds, as it allows candidates to meet voters without having to fork out money to host big events.
