Pro-MCA businessperson under fire for 'Chinese control money, Jews sneeze, Trump shakes' speech
N SEMBILAN POLLS | Social media influencers aligned with Pakatan Harapan have pounced on remarks by a businessperson campaigning for MCA, who appeared to suggest that Chinese Malaysians should emulate the Jews in the US, who wield economic influence despite their smaller population.

"Look at the Jewish people in the US. Their population hasn't even reached 10 million, yet if they sneeze, (President Donald) Trump would shake.
"Why? Because they control the economy," said Ang Kian You, president of the Iskandar Puteri Chinese Chamber of Commerce.
Speaking at a ceramah in Bahau on Sunday, Ang (above) said Chinese Malaysians deserved a better future in Malaysia, stressing that the community therefore "needs to control money, money, money... the economy".
He also criticised government policies, claiming they were unfavourable towards Chinese Malaysian businesses.
‘Vote BN-PN, get MCA Jews’
Pro-Harapan accounts on Facebook began circulating an edited clip of Ang's speech today, with captions accusing MCA of encouraging Chinese Malaysians to "act like Jews".
PKR-linked influencer Jason Yew captioned the post: "vote BN-Perikatan Nasional, get MCA Jews".
The move appears aimed at stirring anger among BN-PN Malay supporters, whose votes MCA will need to secure victories in Saturday’s Negeri Sembilan polls.
Ang has been associated with MCA in the past, and he also indicated that he had campaigned for MCA during the Johor state election.
Not an MCA event
When contacted, MCA secretary-general Chong Sin Woon distanced the party from the event, saying it was not organised by MCA.
In a statement after, he said Ang was not an MCA member. He also accused Yew of manipulating the video by editing in a BN logo and implying the remarks were by MCA.
He said MCA will lodge reports with the police and MCMC over the matter and urged Yew to delete the video.
Ang was the final speaker at a dinner organised by the Bahau Chinese Chamber of Commerce on July 26.
The same event also saw newly appointed Johor deputy exco Chan San San drawing backlash after joking about Bahau's remoteness.
The Bahau state seat will see a straight fight between Harapan's Teo Kok Seong from DAP and BN's Chong Fui Ming from MCA. Teo previously won the seat with an 8,408-vote majority.
