DAP secretary-general Anthony Loke remains firm on resigning as transport minister, saying he will submit his letter to Prime Minister Anwar Ibrahim after returning from China.

Bernama reported that the Seremban MP, who is accompanying Anwar on a three-day official visit to Shanghai and Hangzhou, said his decision was final.

“The decision has been made. I will submit the resignation letter to the prime minister when I return home,” he told reporters in Hangzhou today.

Earlier, Anwar said he would not rush to decide on the matter, adding that he wanted to hear Loke’s explanation and would advise him to reconsider.

Anti-corruption

The government paid RM1.18 million in rewards to 652 civil servants who reported bribery cases from 2012 to 2025, said MACC chief commissioner Abd Halim Aman (below).

Police personnel made up the largest group of recipients, with 437, followed by Immigration Department officers (64), Malaysian Maritime Enforcement Agency personnel (33), and Domestic Trade and Cost of Living Ministry officers (21).

One cited case involved a Perlis police officer who rejected a RM200,000 bribe after police seized 1.8 tonnes of methamphetamine.

For this year’s assessment, 54 civil servants have been nominated over 30 investigations involving attempted bribes totalling RM304,621.

Abd Halim said the reward scheme has been expanded across the public service, especially among procurement officers, to encourage more reporting of corruption.
