“I won’t stop them from meeting Barisan MPs. If they want to have meetings, then go ahead. After all, we’re all MPs. If I see them (the PKR delegation), I’d greet them too,” said Tiong when contacted today.
Tiong is currently leading 49 Barisan MPs on a study trip to the highly industrialised island. The PKR leaders hope to meet Barisan MPs to discuss details pertaining to the Sept 16 plan to topple the federal government.
Commenting on the visit of the PKR delegation, Tiong said it was proof that Pakatan Rakyat was desperate.
“They are mad about seizing power and are willing to chase people all over the world.
“If you are a really good leader, you don’t have to chase anyone. They will automatically come to you and you don’t have to go Taiwan,” he explained.
Tiong confirmed that the BBC’s tour officially ends tonight and Barisan MPs are allowed to leave beginning tomorrow. Tiong also said that about 10 MPs have already left for home.
“This proves that our trip has nothing to do with Sept 16. (PKR supremo) Anwar (Ibrahim) should not use this trip as an excuse to postpone Sept 16,” he added.
PKR meeting rebel leader
The five PKR leaders - party strategist Saifuddin Nasution, his deputy Fuziah Salleh, publicity chief Tian Chua, women’s wing publicity chief Elizabeth Wong and supreme council member Low Chee Chong - left for Taiwan today on a 2.20pm flight.
According to Chua, the five would be staying at the Sheraton Hotel in Taipei - the same hotel where BBC members are putting up.
Chua said that the meeting with BBC members would take place starting tonight when the tour officially ends.
“We have a few days to talk to them - we have the time,” Chua said before boarding.
Chua also revealed that the PKR leaders are scheduled to meet Democratic Progressive Party leader Shih Ming-Teh- a staunch advocate for Taiwan’s independence.
