The Federation of Malaysian Consumer Associations (Fomca) has warned consumers not to fall prey to a scam in its name that offers a Perodua MyVi.

According to Fomca director of communications Mohd Yusof Abdul Rahman, the company involved would inform consumers through the post that they could collect their 'prize' at the company's premises.

But when consumers attempt to claim their 'prize', they are made to pay a certain amount of money purportedly for registering the vehicle and were given 'gifts' such as DVD players.

"Fomca would like to clarify and reiterate that we have never been involved in such illicit activities whatsoever and would never endorse or appoint any third party to conduct such illegal activities," said Mohd Yusof in a statement.

He advised consumers to lodge police reports should they come across such activities.
