Finance Minister Tengku Zafrul Abdul Aziz, who is framed as partyless but close to Bersatu president Muhyiddin Yassin, announced that his ministry was adopting the Kuala Selangor district and announced a train station there.
The move prompted protest from the opposition amid speculation that Zafrul may be eyeing to contest in Kuala Selangor in the 15th general election.
DAP secretary-general Anthony Loke accused Zafrul of abusing the ministry to get a leg up.
Local Umno leaders are also unhappy with Zafrul's moves in the constituency and have instructed a boycott of his events.
There have been claims that prior to becoming a minister, Zafrul was an Umno member but he has yet to confirm the matter.

Veterans' rally
Many army veterans are rarely critical of the government but hundreds of them turned up to rally in front of the National Monument in Kuala Lumpur yesterday.
They are unhappy with the pension scheme for military retirees as many of them are living in poverty and are part of the B40 income earners.
Under the current policy, only those who have served a minimum of 21 years in the military are entitled to get a monthly pension.
Opposition leader Anwar Ibrahim urged the Defence Ministry to look into their plight.

New Tan Sri
Five BN figures were among 18 individuals awarded the ”Tan Sri” title in conjunction with the birthday of the Yang di-Pertuan Agong.
They are former federal ministers Idris Jusoh, S Subramaniam and Ong Ka Chuan.
At the state level, those awarded are former Sabah chief minister Osu Sukam and former Pahang menteri besar Adnan Yaakob.
