Anwar maintains good approval ratings
Prime Minister Anwar Ibrahim's approval ratings as of May are at 55 percent, according to Merdeka Center.
This is one percent higher than his approval ratings at the end of last year.
The pollster attributed the positive sentiments to a decline in political instability and institutional reforms like the revival of the Parliament Services Act.
The poll landed just a day after student protesters in Sabah accused Anwar of shielding the corrupt and set an image of him on fire.
It was also conducted before the government announced plans to expand the sales and services tax, including on imported fruits.

Dr M wants Anwar to stay away from judges
Dr Mahathir Mohamad - the man accused of undermining judicial independence in 1988 - wants Prime Minister Anwar Ibrahim to recuse himself from the process of appointing senior judges.
Mahathir and opposition leaders said in a joint statement that Anwar has a conflict of interest with the judiciary due to the sexual assault civil case against the premier.
Nine out of the 14 top judges are scheduled for mandatory retirement this year.
Leading the list is Chief Justice Tengku Maimun Tuan Mat, who will turn 66 next month, meaning there will be a need to appoint a new top judge.

MCA at crossroads
MCA wants to disassociate itself from the Madani coalition.
But they're on the fence on whether to quit BN too.
BN's key party - Umno - is keen to maintain the Madani partnership with Pakatan Harapan.
Meaning that MCA will likely get scraps in the 16th general election seat talks unless it goes solo.
