PM zooms in on police shooting
The alleged extra-judicial killing of three men in Malacca by police has caught cabinet’s attention.
Prime Minister Anwar Ibrahim has ordered Inspector-General of Police Khalid Ismail to conduct a transparent probe into the shooting.
Anwar said the government will not protect cops who act outside of the law.
Meanwhile, the family of one of the men has submitted a recording of a phone call that allegedly took place during the incident, which allegedly proves police had killed the men in cold blood.
A lawyer representing the family claimed a pathologist also found signs of an “execution-style” killing.
Police had previously claimed they had shot the trio in self-defence.

Terrirudin here to stay
Chief Justice Wan Ahmad Farid Wan Salleh appears to have ruled out any action against Federal Court judge Ahmad Terrirudin Salleh.
Without going into details, the top judge said the problem is that the allegations against Terrirudin predate his becoming a judge, whereas he now has a clean record.
Thus, he said, there was nothing that a tribunal or committee could act on.
Terrirudin was allegedly accused by a former senior judge of judicial interference, which reportedly occurred when he was the attorney-general.
The allegations have neither been confirmed nor investigated.
Wan Ahmad Farid said Terrirudin should now be judged on his conduct as a judge, including his grounds of judgment, and not his past.

Bung Moktar dead at 66
Veteran Sabah politician Bung Moktar Radin died in the early hours of Friday, after being hospitalised for complications involving his lungs, heart, and kidneys.
It comes just over a week after he successfully won a second term for the Lamag seat in the Sabah polls.
His death will lead to a by-election in Lamag.
However, it is unclear whether his Kinabatangan parliamentary seat will also hold a by-election.
His death was just 15 days short of the cut-off date for mandatory parliamentary by-elections.
