With respect, Your Highness…
Former finance minister Lim Guan Eng and his former aide Tony Pua have defended their decisions to slash the LRT3 project's budget during their time in office back in 2018.
This is after Selangor ruler Sultan Sharafuddin Idris Shah accused the duo of cutting the project's funding without due consideration for the public.
The DAP leaders said the cuts were needed to rein in ballooning costs without hurting passenger demand, arguing the move could ultimately save RM10 billion in interest.
Earlier, Pua questioned the risks of taking "someone powerful" to court for defamation and whether doing so could trigger more police reports against him.
Although he did not name anyone, the former Damansara MP's remarks came in the wake of Sultan Sharafuddin's criticism.

Why is Azam on NFCC board?
Several politicians have expressed concern over the apparent appointment of Azam Baki as an adviser to the National Financial Crime Centre (NFCC), given the ongoing controversies linked to the former MACC chief, which does not give the Madani government the best look.
“On behalf of the media, I am asking the government what the justification is for appointing Azam as an NFCC adviser when he himself is being investigated regarding several issues,” Larut MP Hamzah Zainudin said at a press conference yesterday.
Questions regarding Azam’s position in the NFCC advisory board arose after he was seen in photos posted by the Attorney-General’s Chambers’ Facebook page over a board meeting on June 30.
Malaysiakini checks found a post dated Oct 15, 2025, on the Prime Minister’s Department’s official website mentioning Azam as a board member. The NFCC website also displays Azam as an advisory board member.
This revelation comes amid calls for the government to disclose all findings from investigations into Azam’s shareholdings and demands for a royal commission of inquiry to probe the “corporate mafia” allegations involving the graftbusters.

The reason is Najib
When former Skudai assemblyperson Marina Ibrahim unexpectedly announced her retirement from politics ahead of the Johor state election, speculation swirled over her decision.
The DAP member had dismissed claims that she was unhappy about her party’s plans of moving her to another seat or that she was switching allegiance. Marina was even accused of simply “sulking”.
Now the 38-year-old politician has finally revealed the real reason she is stepping back from politics - the issue of Najib Abdul Razak's royal pardon.
In a lengthy social media post, Marina said a senior DAP leader's stance on the former prime minister’s pardon was the "last straw" that shattered her faith in politics.
She claimed the leader, who had previously been outspoken against Najib's pardon, told her there was nothing wrong with Najib receiving it because of his past contributions, which convinced her that DAP knew there was a strong likelihood the former Umno president would eventually be pardoned.
