Tallying votes

An official tallies votes in the Port Dickson by-election, which saw Anwar Ibrahim capture the parliamentary seat with a commanding majority.

PAS' Mohd Nazari Mokhtar finished second behind the Pakatan Harapan candidate, trailing by 23,560 votes – larger than the 17,710-vote majority secured by PKR candidate Danyal Balagopal Abdullah in the 14th general election.

All independent candidates lost their deposits, including Negeri Sembilan menteri besar Mohd Isa Abdul Samad, and Anwar's ex-aide Mohd Saiful Bukhari Azlan – who came in last with just 82 votes in the seven-way contest.

Today's polls saw a turnout of 58.25 percent, higher than the three by-elections held since May 9.
