Commissioner Amar Singh has retired after dedicating three decades of his life to the police force.
It was during the tail-end of his career that he became a household name after leading the 1MDB probe and raids on residences linked to former premier Najib Abdul Razak, where hundreds of millions in cash and valuables were seized.
Amar holds a law degree, a science degree, a master's degree in criminal justice and a diploma in syariah law. In 2016, he became the first Sikh officer to helm the Kuala Lumpur police. Amar is a third-generation member of the police. His last posting was that of federal commercial crimes department director.
