From the modest use of mangrove logs and warm colours, the decor convincingly simulates a laid back log cabin charm. This is a jarring but eye-catching contrast to the glitzy and bustling Jalan Bukit Bintang, where this two-month old establishment is located. Think of Texas, and you'll be there.

Passers-by would find it hard to miss the impressive facade and the robust aroma radiating from a large live barbecue oven at the entrance, which is the centre piece of the restaurant. It grabs you the moment you pass it, and you have no choice but to step in. Spitfire is like a fiery temptress, you can't say no to it.

The Spitfire buffet table offers a potpourri of mouth-watering continental dishes, salads, soups and deserts, all for the measly sum of RM19.90. The buffet selection is constantly being changed with new surprises everyday. The Spitfire buffet is definitely value for money considering the sheer volume and variety offered. It was a shame that we arrived a little early and couldn't clear a buffet tray in order to investigate what else they had to offer.

For just RM14.50, one can enjoy a meal of either chicken or beef served with salad and rice or tandoori bread. A quick look flip through the ala carte menu showed a plethora of western styled barbecue main courses which ranged from RM11.90 to RM29.90. There is the usual steak fare - Sirloin (RM 19.90), T-Bone (RM 21.00) and Fillet (RM 29.90) - to treat the beef lovers, while the health conscious can indulge themselves guilt-free with Grilled Chicken (RM 14.50) and Salmon Steak (RM 19.50).

That's not all. There is the savory Chicken Picatta (RM16.50) which is chicken breast dish served with spaghetti tomato sauce and parmesan cheese. Visitors will also notice the exotically named Zubaidi Mutabak (RM 22.30), which is grilled-pomfret Arabian style, served with rice and vegetables. The management highly recommended we try their house speciality Lamb Steak , which would have to wait for our next visit.

Spitfire Barbecue and Grill is definitely worth a visit, particularly after shopping in the malls nearby, as it provides a relaxing atmosphere, highly competitive pricing and of course, loads of barbecued meat.
