Puchong member of Parliament Gobind Singh Deo has been suspended from the House for the rest of the day today for raising the Altantuya matter during the debate on the mini-budget.

Deputy speaker Ronald Kiandee ejected Gobind from the House after the latter refused to stop raising the murder of the Mongolian woman.

Gobind was the second parliamentarian to be suspended today. Earlier today, Siringan Gubat (BN-Ranau) was suspended for three hours by House speaker Pandikar Amin Mulia for interrupting him during a question-and-answer session this morning.

It happened when Gubat said ‘ ngam ' to Pandikar's decision not to give those who uttered unparliamentary words any more verbal warnings.

This is the third time that Gobind - a first-time MP and son of DAP chairperson Karpal Singh - has been suspended from Parliament.

Gobind referred to the non-action in the sudden death of police detainee A Kugan on Jan 20.

He also wondered if the alleged perpetrators would be brought to court, and alluded to the apparent bias in the Altantuya murder trial.

Najib has been linked with Altantuya's death although the deputy prime minister has repeatedly denied it.

At this point, Kiandee told Gobind that his question was not related to economic issues.

'Answer me you murderer'

After repeated requests by Kiandee for Gobind to sit down, the deputy speaker then ordered the DAP legislator to leave the House for the day.

"Police have said that statement of important witnesses were not investigated, for instance, in the Altantuya murder trial," said Gobind.

The deputy speaker then interjected and said that "it has been explained that this matter was in court".

At this stage, Kiandee informed Gobind that his question was completely unrelated to the issue before the House.

However Gobind said he was speaking from what he had gathered from popular blogger Raja Petra Kamarudin's ongoing sedition trial where the Pekan MP (Najib) was an important witness.

"I have not finished with you. Please sit down... Pekan MP you are here, stand up and explain yourself.

"Answer me, you murderer," he said again, directing his verbal assault at Najib.

Najib, whose wife Rosmah Mansor and two children were at the visitors' gallery, returned to his seat but maintained silence throughout the episode.

After repeated requests by Kiandee for Gobind to sit down, the deputy speaker then ordered the DAP MP to leave the House.

"You are very stubborn... and you are suspended until the end of today," said Kiandee.

This was when the opposition MPs begun protesting against the speaker's decision, and a shouting match ensued.

In the ensuing melee, various unparliamentary words - such as 'bodoh' - were uttered repeatedly by members from both sides of the divide.

"Mr Speaker, you should be ashamed of yourself," said Gobind before he was escorted out of Parliament.

Certain people protected

Initially before the ruckus, Gobind had gotten up to ask Najib on why the government was spending RM95,254,600 million to construct court complexes in Kuantan.

He asked the question during the debate on the committee stage of the second stimulus package.

"What I don't understand is this why is this country spending so much money on buildings when the infrastructure which is supposed to keep the criminal justice system in check is not up to the mark," said Gobind at a press conference after being thrown out.

"I want to know why we are spending so much money on buildings when our police force is in shambles. The entire country is facing the increase in the rate of crime... but no action is being taken against certain individuals.

However, Gobind said that he was not worried about being suspended.

"It doesn't matter if I am suspended... this questions need to be asked," said Gobind.

Najib walked out of the House without talking to the media while Gobind was holding his press conference.
