De facto law minister Mohamed Nazri Abdul Aziz today issued a warning to the opposition not to turn the death of political aide Teoh Beng Hock in a racial issue.

He also told them to stop speculating on the nature of Teoh's untimely death last week.

He urged the opposition, especially DAP's parliamentary leader Lim Kit Siang, to let the police investigate before making any conclusion.

Teoh, 30, was found in the corridor on the fifth floor of Plaza Masalam, Shah Alam, last Thursday, believed to be from a fall from the Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission (MACC) office on the 14th floor of the same building.

He was a witness in investigations into allegations of misappropriation of Selangor state allocation funds.

MACC officers are professional

The minister also said that the MACC could not be directed to stop its investigations into the matter.

To a question if MACC officers involved in the Teoh probe should be suspended or not, he said the issue did not arise as the case was still under police investigation.

He also defended MACC's investigation methods, stating that they had been used for years.

He added that MACC officers were professional and saw the matter with "colour-blind eyes" and would investigate without taking into account race.

Teoh was buried today in Semenyih while the police said that almost 60 percent of the probe into his sudden death was completed.
