Since last Thursday, Teng Shuw Hor has been weeping daily, grieving for her deceased son Teoh Beng Hock. Four days later, her grief had turned into anger.

Teng said that should the ‘killer' of her son ever be found, a jail term will not suffice, reported Sin Chew Daily yesterday.

In the family of six, Teng appears to be the hardest hit by Beng Hock's passing. At her home in Taman Seri Kelemek, Malacca today, Teng wailed inconsolably and spoke incoherently.

According to the Sin Chew report, the three days saw Teng frequently breaking down whenever she peered over Beng Hock's coffin.

"My son, do not worry. We will take care of your wife and (unborn) child. Your brother and sisters will also look after them. My poor son, you couldn't even see your son. You left without knowing what he looked like," she said between sobs.

teoh beng hock funeral 200709 family pray Teng had also asked a number of visitors why the Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission had taken her son away for questioning, but failed to ensure he was also returned safely.

"My son is gone. All we want is the truth and justice. He is gone forever. What will be of his wife and child?" she asked visitors.

For now, Teng, a housewife, is hoping that the government would establish a royal commission of inquiry to determine the cause of her son's death.

Meanwhile, the same report also revealed Beng Hock's penchant for books.

According to his younger sister Amanda, 29, most of Beng Hock's possessions retrieved from his home in Puchong, Selangor were books.

"My brother only spends on necessities. Most of his money goes to books. That is his passion," said Amanda, who works as an auditor.

His love for books was manifested in his outings with his nephews and nieces in bookstores, added Amanda.

Beng Hock was a former school teacher before his stint as a journalist with Sin Chew Daily .

He left journalism in April last year to join Seri Kembangan state representative Ean Yong Hian Wah as his political secretary.

Beng Hock was found dead on the fifth floor landing of Plaza Masalam on Thursday, hours after his interrogation by the MACC was concluded on the 14th floor of the same building.
