10.34am Najib arrives in Asam Kumbang this morning, greets villagers in the kampung, while Anwar - who arrived at about the same time, is at a nearby restaurant situated on the main road.

10.40am: Najib denies his wife Rosmah Mansor interfered in the ntv7 news programme that saw its producer Joshua Wong resign in protest.

"No, no, no. That is not true. (There was) no interference," Najib told a press conference after attending a campaign function in Kampung Gumut Tambahan in Hulu Bernam.

He stopped reporters from continue asking the question.

NONE Najib ( left ) also dodged questions on whether BN candidate P Kamalanathan is a 'phantom voter' from Sg Siput.

He said that Kamalanathan has stronger claim to being the MP for Hulu Selangor than Pakatan candidate Zaid Ibrahim.

"There's no such thing as phantom voters in this country. He (Kamalanathan) has more claim to be MP than Zaid, because he was born in this area (Rawang), which was part of Hulu Selangor before."

"Now Rawang is outside of this area, but it is still a neighbour to Hulu Selangor."

"(But) Zaid was born in Kota Baru. He has been active in KB in Kelantan. So our candidate has a better and strongest claim to represent this area."

NONE Meanwhile, Anwar ( right ) spent five minutes to meet and greet members of Chinese community at Restoran Seafood Mei Loon.

 

He advised the crowd of about 100 to vote for Pakatan Rakyat because 1Malaysia is not what the government makes it seem to be.

 

"They lie about everything. Even for elections, they lie. Before you’d be able to vote at Sungai Choh, now you have to vote in Selayang," he told the gathering.

" Tapi mereka Malairen , Malairen , Malairen (But they are Malays. They are Malays. They are Malays)," added Anwar.       

11am: PKR election director Fuziah Salleh describes Najib's cash compensation to Felda settlers yesterday as "blatant corruption" and a “desperate move".

11am: Deputy Prime Minister Muhyiddin Yassin meets locals at Ampang Pecah and distributes dividend payments to 11,640 Felcra settlers from all around the country.

Felcra settlers from Hulu Selangor were also present. For those from Lembah Bernam, a total of RM675,615 in dividend payments were distributed to Felcra settlers in the Sungai Pagi zone, and another RM188,810 to those in Serian.

As much as RM248,091 was distributed to those from the Beruntung zone, Sungai Choh. RM107,866 was given to the Department for Orang Asli Affairs (JHEOA).

Muhyiddin said the payments were not part of BN's election campaign, because "101%" of such settlers have always supported BN.

NONE 11am PM’s wife Rosmah Mansor ( left ) visits the Wanita Umno programme at the BN command centre at Bukit Beruntung. The programme, which is attended by 200 Wanita members, focuses on cooking, health and beauty.

She urges Hulu Selangor Wanita Umno to support the BN candidate Kamalanathan because he can speak good Malay and is friendly to all people. She also stresses that Kamalanathan is a local.

" Jangan biar orang jauh yang bela nasib kita, biar orang sini bela nasib kita. " (Don’t let people from outside fight for us. Let people who are from here fight for our interests)

NONE She tells the people not to believe any "fitnah" (lies) from the opposite side, including that Najib will debate Anwar.

" Saya dengar ada kain ranting kata Anwar akan debat dengan Najib. Saya tanya Najib, dia beritahu tak ada nak debat. Mereka buat kain ranting itu supaya pembangkang boleh dakwa PM pengecut. "

Rosmah urged the voters to support BN, if not for Kamalanathan, at least for Najib.

" Kalau tak tengok gambar Kamal, tengoklah gambar Najib. Tapi, saya hanya izin tengok sampai esok. Selepas itu, Najib saya punya! "

They chant, "Keluar, BN keluar!" (Get out, BN, get out!).

 

Verbal altercation has ensued between the group and organisers of the event.

4.20pm: Najib at Masjid Kelumpang. Najib says he would rather meet the rakyat or people instead of debating with Anwar.

"There is nothing in the programme for a debate with Anwar Ibrahim in Kuala Kubu Bahru. Nothing at all. I will be more happy if I can meet with all of you because more benefits can be obtained from such meetings rather than meeting with him (Anwar).

"As such, we should not be bothered with what is being done by the opposition because they are more interested in politics rather than championing the agenda of the people."

Several banners had been put up in Kuala Kubu Bahru town claiming that the prime minister will participate in a debate with Anwar tonight at the KKB mini stadium at 9pm.

5.40pm: Tan Lian Hoe ( left ) proceeds to the Kuala Kubu Baru police station to lodge a police report on the incident at SJK(T). She claims to have been manhandled.

6.00pm: Election Commission chairperson Abdul Aziz Mohd Yusof warned both BN and Pakatan that 'pondok panas ' (hotspots) set up at polling stations for the purpose of fishing for last-minute votes will be torn down.

These include 'infomation counters' which PKR plans to set up to assist people in finding their polling stations, which have been moved around by the EC for 'logistical reasons'.

6.35: Selangor Menteri Besar Khalid Ibrahim announces the set up of a Selangor Felda Task Force - headed by Zaid - to look into and tackle the problems of Felda settlers in the state.

Zaid has been given a three-months' timetable to complete the task force's terms of reference.

Khalid also announces that the state government has plans for a housing project for second-generation Felda settlers in Selangor. PKR vice-president Mohd Azmin Ali will head this development project in collaboration with state development agency PKNS.

8am-5pm: Polling centres to open from 8am to 5pm.

Hulu Selangor voters will go to the 48 centres located in 47 schools and a community hall to mark their choice of candidate

The result is expected to be known by 9.30pm. Some 799 postal voters, comprising police and military personnel and election workers, cast their ballots on Thursday and Friday.

The constituency has a total of 64,500 voters, 34,020 or 52.7 percent of whom are Malays, 16,964 or 26.3 percent Chinese, 12,453 or 19.3 percent Indians and about 1,000 Orang Asli.
