The article published on Monday said Anwar had told his friends in the United States that he regretted using terms such as 'Zionist aggression.
"(He) spent a lot of time offering explanations to old friends, not to mention House Foreign Affairs Committee Chairman Howard Berman and a Jewish leader or two," writer Jackson Diehl said in the article titled 'Flirting with zealotry in Malaysia'
Anwar was also quoted as saying he regretted using the term 'Zionist aggression' and said he should be more careful using the term, lest it caused misunderstandings.

) said this proved the many facets of Anwar.
"Just weeks ago, he was demonstrating outside the US Embassy, and now, he is appologising in the US," he said.
The Rembau MP called on the former deputy prime minister to explain his actions to the rakyat.
"Anwar should explain what really happened. This is very serious," he told reporters at the Parliament lobby this afternoon.
However, Khairy added, he "half expects Anwar to give evasive answers, like he always does".
"He can say that it was taken out of context, or whatever. I just want to highlight this to the people."
Nurul: Dad has been consistent

n an immediate response, also at Parliament lobby, Anwar's daughter Lembah Pantai parliamentarian Nurul Izzah said it just went to show that her father had been consistent in his efforts in engaging the West in dialogue with the view to stopping Jewish aggression and violence against the Palestinians.
She suggested that Khairy instead questions Prime Minister Najib Abdul Razak's administration.
"Najib has been trying to appease the West, and even used our coffers to hire a lobbyist in the US," Nurul Izzah added, indirectly referring to communications consultant giant Apco Worldwide.
