Two more from PKR have been called up by police to give their statements pertaining to the report lodged by Rahimi Osman, claiming that he was coerced to sign false statutory declarations.

Amizudin Ahmat and Zulkifli Ibrahim, both from PKR Youth Penang, were called up over claims that they were part of the group who had forced Rahimi to stay at the Quality Hotel in June 2008, when he signed the first of two disputed statutory declarations.

The duo, who had accompanied Rahimi at the hotel, were questioned at Bukit Perdana police station in Kuala Lumpur at 4pm for about an hour.

Speaking to Malaysiakini earlier, Zulkifli said that he and Zulkifli had shared a room with Rahimi then.

He added that he had even went to watch a live telecast of a football match outside of the hotel, corroborating the claim made by lawyer and PKR information chief Latheefa Koya.

Latheefa and fellow lawyer Saiful Izham Ramli had on Tuesday given their statements to the police on the same matter.

Both Latheefa and Amizudin had last week spoken to Malaysiakini about the events surrounding the signing of the statutory declarations.

Amizudin and Zulkifli, both PKR Youth exco, had told the police that they had in no way kept Rahimi captive nor threatened him during his stay at Quality Hotel.

Neither were they told of anyone else doing so to Rahimi.

"We told the police that we only accompanied him as friends, we did not imprison him. We even drove him to Pentas TV3 to watch football, we ate with him at a mamak stall," said Amizudin, who was a former Seberang Perai municipal councillor.

Also with them at Pentas TV3 was Rahimi's driver.

The police were also told that Rahimi's family had visited him at the hotel while he was staying there and that he was free to come and go as he pleased.

Quizzed separately

The duo, who were questioned separately, opted not to answer when asked further questions.

"We invoked section 112.2 of the Police Act and refused to comment when the police wanted to ask us further about the incident. We told them (police) we will answer the rest in court," he added

According to Azimudin, the police asked about 10 questions about their whereabouts on the day the first statutory declaration was signed and their relationship with Rahimi.

"I was asked if I had witnessed the signing of the statutory declarations," he said.

They were questioned by police superintendant Meor Farid, and were accompanied by lawyers Murni Hidayah and Renuka Balasubramaniam.

Amizudin, who runs the popular blog ‘Sharpshooter’, said that the police were satisfied with their answers and informed them that they were called in not as suspects but as witnesses.
