The investigation into the sex video tape screened to a select group of journalists that allegedly involved an opposition leader is to take more time.

This is because the Attorney-General's Chambers sent back the investigation papers submitted by the police yesterday.

The head of prosecution at the chambers, Tun Abdul Majid Tun Hamzah, confirmed this with Malaysiakini today.

The papers were submitted yesterday, and sent back the same day.

"I have instructed the police to investigate the case further. We have not given them a time limit to complete their investigations," Tun Majid said.

NONE "This is the second time the investigation papers were returned to the police."

He did not want to reveal the areas that required further investigation. Once this is done, it means that the police would be submitting their investigation papers to the AG's Chambers for the third time.

Inspector-General of Police Ismail Omar ( right ) said yesterday police would resubmit the investigation papers on the sex video recording allegedly involving the prominent opposition leader as soon as possible, after the chambers had sent the papers back to the police last week.

Man in sex act identified

Ismail had said last week that police had identified the individual involved in the sex act, that they had sufficient evidence and that the sex tape was genuine.

However, he refused to divulge details about the person under investigation.

In another development, Bukit Aman deputy CID director Acryl Sani Abdullah Sani said police have not dismissed the possibility of charging the 'Datuk T' trio with the offence of screening pornographic material under Section 292 of the Penal Code.

Acryl had also indicated that the police investigation papers would be submitted to the chambers by today. However, it was submitted yesterday and returned.

The 'Datuk T' trio - businessman Shazryl Eskay Abdullah, former Malacca chief minister Abdul Rahim Tamby Chik and former Perkasa treasurer Shuib Lazim - had admitted responsibility for screening the sex video to several top editors and journalists.

The video screened at the posh Carcosa Seri Negara hotel on March 21 was claimed to be a recording made exactly a month earlier, on Feb 21, allegedly depicting parliamentary opposition leader Anwar Ibrahim having sex with a supoposedly Chinese woman.

The Permatang Pauh MP, who is facing an ongoing sodomy trial, has denied being the person in the video.
