Emergence of a Perkasa para-military wing?

your say 'How could the Home Ministry approved such a brigade? But wait, the last time I check, the minister backed the cow-head protesters.'

Perkasa recruits Rela members, forms special unit

Cannon: The gremlins are coming out from the woodwork. Umno is showing its true colour, openly sponsoring its militant arm, Perkasa, apart from letting its rabid mouthpiece, Utusan Malaysia , loose and defending its seditious exhortations.

The party is resorting to race to collar the Malay votes and playing up racism to win the general election. This is an admission by Umno that it can no longer depend on its BN 'partners' to deliver the votes in the next general election and is abandoning them after the BN coalition's setback in Sarawak, being roundly rejected by Sarawak's urban voters.

Arrogance, defiance, intimidation, thuggery, thievery, trickery - these are marks of a desperately isolated, morally bankrupt and a failing regime. Umno has trashed its mandate to rule and will be called to account by the rakyat in the coming general election.

David Dass: How can the Home Ministry allow this when they know how extreme Perkasa's position is on the issue of race? We are on a slippery slope and unless common sense prevails, we will reach the edge of the precipice.

We are a democracy. We have periodic elections and we have a parliament and state legislative assemblies. And we have a written constitution which is the supreme law of the country, and we have a country where the rule of law is supposed to prevail. We have a professional police force to enforce the law and to maintain order. And we have the security forces to defend us in the event of attack by external foes.

We have an economy which requires investment both domestic and foreign, and a stock market which is buoyant only because of foreign buyers. Why do we need a paramilitary wing of a right-wing organisation like Perkasa? It is the inability of some leaders to measure the consequences of such decisions that will take us to the brink.

Mohd Zaini Husin: It is dangerous to allow extremist groups to wear military outfit and assume a militant role. We should stop this nonsense immediately before things get out of hand while the future generation suffer the consequence.

The great Mahathir is behind all the atrocities and we the rakyat should hold him responsible like what happened to Gaddafi and Mubarak. Wasalam.

Ttloo: This is another publicity stunt by Perkasa. Briged Setia Negara is another version of the Rovers (senior scouts). The public should not be duly alarmed as it is a registered body under the Home Ministry. Let us see how the Home Ministry monitor the movement. For the time being, we should reserve our comment.

Bruce: Will there later be an official Perkasa component of PDRM, the army and civil service, teachers, etc. I say again, Rela members can be anything they want to be during their own free time, but there cannot be a Perkasa component of Rela.

Rela members are given firearms, does that mean that when they assume the role of Perkasa, they carry their weapons? This is madness.

Perkasa has a known anti- non-Malay stand, does that mean that when Rela members who officially claim to be Perkasa carry this prejudice when they discharge their duties? Aren't they supposed to be impartial and how can they be impartial if they are officially part of a brigade which preaches the doctrine of hate and intimidation?

SickNegara: Twenty over years of destruction is still not enough. Dr M is destroying the country for the last time on his journey to his grave. He has accomplished and completed his mission to his satisfaction by establishing Perkasa.

Geronimo: When Menteri Besar Khalid Ibrahim proposed that Selangor form its own auxiliary police force to look after its citizenries, Home Minister Hishammuddin Hussein said "no." But when it comes to Perkasa to form the Briged Setia Negara, Hishammuddin said it is "okay".

If this is something that is meant to scare us into voting for the BN, Umno is wrong. It is just going to push more of us to vote for the opposition instead.

Rakyat Malaysia: What is going on with our country? This Perkasa is doing everything without control from BN government. Forming military unit? Is BN planning another May 13 through Perkasa?

So the government will not blame BN itself but put the blame on Perkasa and tell us, "See, see we told you but your never listen, now you all gonna get it."

Freemsia: How could the Home Ministry approved such a brigade? No wait! Who am I kidding? The last time I check, the home minister actually backed the cow-head protesters.

Quigonbond : It looks as if Umno, Perkasa, Rela and the Election Commission are conspiring in broad daylight, especially if Rela members get postal voting rights.

Elections will become literally a farce when pro-Umno votes can be injected into any constituency at the whim and fancy of the Home Ministry. Even if there's no postal vote for Rela members, their Perkasa affiliation will intimidate voters.

Hishammuddin is playing with fire. It's worse enough that Rela is pro-BN and hooliganistic - totally unreflective of its stated objective of being a "people's" volunteer corps, but now he's letting Rela be corrupted by an extremist racial and religious agenda with the potential to inflict physical violence.

Election Fan: The mastermind is getting more serious. What is the ulterior motive? Defend Putrajaya at all cost including coup de tat or blood shed. Where are the police? Why there is no arrest under ISA?
