PKR supreme council member Johari Abdul has dismissed claims by a pro-Umno blogger that he tried to solicit money in return for convincing opposition MPs to view the sex video allegedly involving Anwar Ibrahim.

"My conscience is clear," said Johari, who is also the Sungai Petani MP, when met at the Parliament lobby today.

NONE Johari was today accused by the Papagomo blog of attempting to solicit RM100,000 as a "lubrication fee" to take on the task.

The blogger also accused him of attempting to solicit RM1 million for every MP he managed to persuade to watch the video.

Papagomo did not provide evidence of this claim but he did provide a video clip ( right ) in the blog which depicts Johari watching the sex video with the Datuk T group in the background.

Johari was seen joking with the Datuk T group and smiling throughout the two minute clip.

It is believed that this video clip was recorded on March 21 at a hotel in Kuala Lumpur, the same day the Datuk T group screened the video to senior journalists at the Carcosa Seri Negara hotel.

Datuk T is a monicker for a group comprising of businessperson Shazryl Eskay Abdullah, former Malacca Chief Minister Abdul Rahim Thamby Chik and Shuaib Abdul Lazim.

Asked why he seemed so composed during the screening, Johari explained that he was “relaxed” because he felt that something was amiss.

“I suspected I was being recorded that is why I smiled more often than not,” explained Johari.

Furthermore, Johari said he had known Rahim since his Umno days and that Shuib was his uncle.

“I’m an MP lah how should I react? Should I cry or throw tantrum? (I can’t walk into the room) as if I’m looking for a fight,” he replied casually.

'Morality at stake'

The video on the blog titled "Johari Abdul admits the sex video actor is Anwar Ibrahim" (Johari Abdul akui bahawa pelaku dalam video seks ialah Anwar Ibrahim) highlights and replays a comment made by Johari while watching the sex video.

Johari was captured laughing and sharing jokes with the three and shown a watch - supposedly the Omega watch belonging to Anwar that Eskay claimed was taken by the woman in the sex video.

Johari, however, stood firm that he never agreed it was Anwar during the private screening, as he had established in a narrated " documentary ".

In the documentary, which is a re-edited version of the sex video allegedly featuring Anwar, Johari pointed out parts of the video that raise doubts of its authenticity.

Asked if he will take action against the Eskay, Rahim and Shuib for "tarnishing" his image, Johari said:

"I was shown (the video). I contemplate lah but if I don't agree, I don't agree."

"And no, it's a free country people can do what they like. It is their freedom (we will let) the people judge (for themselves) this is about (a person's) morality," reiterated Johari.

Last week, Abdul Rahim was charged with abetting Shuib and Eskay in "openly" screening pornographic material to a group of journalists on March 21. The trio later pleaded guilty and was fined a total of RM5,500.

Anwar, on his part, had lodged a police report against the screening of the video and denies that he was the person involved.
