The Petaling Jaya City Council (MBPJ) today lodged a police report against a pro-BN blogger, alleging that he had published a fake document said to be an MBPJ report.

In his report at the Petaling Jaya district police station, enforcement and safety department head Mohd Fauzi Maarop said the document published on anonymous blog www.papagomo.com did not originate from MBPJ or any of its officers.

“MBPJ has never made any reports about an operation to seal the Damansara Utama Methodist Church.

“I deny the content of the report and state that the report, purported to be issued by my department, is fake,” he said.

He also said that MBPJ had never received any complaints about an illegal church on Aug 8 and Aug 9 as stated in the ‘report’, nor did any of its officer receive any calls from Pakatan Rakyat leaders as mentioned.

Nor was MBPJ ever intending to seal DUMC, which premises were searched by the Selangor Islamic Affairs Department earlier this month upon suspicion of proselytisation.

“I stress that none of the Pakatan leaders (Selangor exco members Teresa Kok, Ronnie Liu and Elizabeth Wong, PKR-Seri Setia assemblyperson Nik Nazmi Nik Ahmad and PAS-Shah Alam MP Khalid Samad) had made calls to any MBPJ officer (on Aug 11),” he said.

No briefing held

Mohd Fauzi also refuted that he had held a briefing on the operation to seal the church on Aug 11 with the police, as claimed by the ‘report’.

“The fake document makes it seem like I had given a briefing, when in fact neither I nor any MBPJ officer conducted any such briefing about an operation to seal the church,” he said in his report.

Mohd Fauzi was accompanied today by MBPJ councillor Latheefa Koya who said that the blogger can be investigated under Section 182 of the Penal Code for making false claims with the intention of causing a public officer to be investigated for an offence.

Also present was Menteri Besar Abdul Khalid Ibrahim, who also denied making a phone call to MBPJ to request that the sealing operation be halted, at 11.07am on Aug 11, as stated in the document.

“We hope that Malaysian would realise that this anonymous blogger has no credibility,” he said.

The blogger, who has thus far refused to identify himself, claimed that he received the ‘report’ marked “confidential” from an MBPJ officer via email on Friday.
