I'll give proof on 6P voters, says Zuraida
PKR’s Ampang MP Zuraida Kamaruddin took up the challenged thrown to her by the Home Ministry and vowed to present her evidence on alleged naturalisation of undocumented foreign workers in order to become "phantom voters".
PKR’s Ampang MP Zuraida Kamaruddin has taken up the challenged thrown to her by the Home Ministry and vowed to present her evidence on alleged naturalisation of undocumented foreign workers in order to become "phantom voters".
"I don't want to reveal anything now because I don't want any interruption, such as police raids. I will make a police report with all the evidence, hopefully, by this week," she said.
Zuraida, who is also PKR Wanita chief, was responding to Home Ministry secretary-general Mahmood Adam, who had called on her to make a police report with her allegations to demonstrate her seriousness.
She had alleged that undocumented migrants who were naturalised were made to take an oath of allegiance to BN and Umno in order to be legalised and allowed to stay on in Malaysia.
Speaking at a press conference at the PKR headquarters in Petaling Jaya, Zuraida blasted Mahmood for threatening legal action over her claims.
“First and foremost, any government institution cannot sue a citizen for criticising what happened, especially in the case I mentioned,” she said.
She added that this was according to her lawyers, in reference to the Common Law.
Coming to Zuraida’s defence, PKR strategies director Rafizi Ramli kicked the ball back to the Home Ministry, demanding an explanation over the document containing the said oath that the party had revealed earlier.
“The letter that we have discovered, until now the Home Ministry has not explained it. There are thousands of subcontractors in the 6P programme. I am sure he cannot guarantee that there are none who abuse the system for politics and Umno,” he said.
Zuraida reiterated that regardless of whether the Home Ministry tries to take her to court, she will expose the controversy.
