The Barisan Nasional (BN) component parties have yet to hold discussions on the allocation of seats for the next general election, although the MIC has expressed its willingness to swap seats

allotted to the party with other BN component parties.

MIC secretary-general S Murugesan said any seat swapping could be carried out if there was an understanding between all the interested parties.

“The willingness of several BN component parties, such as the MIC and MCA to swap seats shows their flexible attitude and this is a positive news,” he said when interviewed in the ‘Program Kerusi Panas’ aired by Bernama Radio24 in Kuala Lumpur last night.

In the general election in March 2008, the MIC was allocated nine parliamentary seats and 19 state assembly seats. The party won in three parliamentary and seven state assembly seats.
