YOURSAY ‘A professional police force would back up its statement with cold hard facts. Mere denial in support of the force is unacceptable.'

'Police do probe insult cases, attacks on Pakatan leaders'

your say Rick Teo: Bukit Aman Criminal Investigation Department director Mohd Bakri Zinin, don't talk nonsense.

If they (the 10 cases of attacks on Pakatan Rakyat leaders as well as the various forms of disrespectful acts carried out upon their photographs since 2009) were investigated, why were the culprits not charged?

But those who showed disrespect towards PM Najib Abdul Razak were quickly detained and handcuffed. Why the difference? Let us know who you charged when the ex-servicemen showed their butts at Bersih co-chairperson S Ambiga's house.

1234567: Since 2009? Wow, they must have been tough cases!

Ohakimm: A professional police force would back up its statement with cold hard facts. Mere denial in support of the force is unacceptable. The rakyat does not buy it.

Vgeorgemy: Under their standard operating procedure (SOP), they might have opened the case for investigation.

As Bakri did not present us any incidence of conviction, it is fair to believe that instances of disrespectful acts against public figures from the opposition is not given due importance.

Kalui 64: NFA (no further action) on all the 10 cases? So it is all right to urinate on the photographs of opposition leaders?

It is also all right to burn their photographs? It is all right to hang a wreath on a chief minister's photograph? It is all right to send replicas of faeces to Komtar? It is all right for Perkasa members to demonstrate and hold up traffic in Penang?

It is always all right if the victims are leaders of Pakatan. The people of Malaysia are educated and they can think for themselves.

Bakri should reread all the rules and regulations concerning the roles and responsibilities of the members of the Royal Malaysian Police (PDRM).

Ex-wfw: The test of the pudding has always been in its eating. There is no need to accuse anyone of being bias.

BTN: PDRM may have investigated all those cases reported by Pakatan but with no urgency at all, and most likely it's still in their KIV (kept in view) file way below tonnes of other petty cases. Don't forget our police is called ‘royal' police force.

Eric Koay: I am sure the result of the investigations will point to the PKR leaders who instigated the incidents because of their "lies" about Umno. So the suspects were actually victims of circumstances. Ha, ha, ha, no bias? My foot!

Keturunan Malaysia: Bakri, how come you just tell this us now? Why not much earlier when it happened? Why only after you started to come on hard and heavy on the young man and girl for "insulting" the PM?

Where are the culprits? Why so fast and so transparent when it comes to the two young people? My, my, my... it is both your head and tongue that is spinning and not the public at large.

Wira: The mere opening of a file doesn't mean investigations because those files can be left to collect dust.

The public demand the same investigative publicity and attention for those who insulted opposition leaders as those who insulted Umno leaders. Don't ever think we are all MCA leaders who can be placated by lies and half truths.

Q..!: Bakri, can you give us the list of people that were charged and what type of sentences were passed on them. If you cannot, then stop spinning.

AkuMelayuIslam: "Police are always professional and always investigate all cases that have been reported without prejudice and without taking into account the background of any party...," said Bakri.

It just happens that we never find anything wrong with BN supporters' actions, unlike Pakatan supporters, who always break the law.

Boleh: Why the two youngsters who supposedly insulted the PM were handcuffed, while those charged with bigger issues involving millions of ringgits (corruption or criminal breach of trust) were not handcuffed, for example, Ling Liong Sik and former Selangor MB Mohd Khir Toyo?

Whatsup: So-called disrespectful acts against public figures are considered serious, necessitating immediate investigation and arrest, but public figures' lying outright, the abuse of power, corrupt practices, etc, are not? What kind of laws do we have?

Blogsmith: "For example, the burning of the Penang chief minister's photograph on Nov 30, 2009, was immediately investigated on the same day the incident was reported," Bakri added.

Now it's September 2012 - three years plus. Any action? The answer is obvious.

Holu: People who were easily identified in insult and assault cases against the opposition dating as far back three years were still to be arrested and charged, while those who couldn't be identified in cases against the BN were magically identified and brought to face the full force of the law.

Bakri, taking no action on the BN supporters is one thing, but to say that the police is not biased is preposterous and clearly an act of hypocrisy. To think that the people will believe you is even more ridiculous and ludicrous.

Louis: Only fools will say that there is no double standard on the part of the police. And sadly, almost all Malaysians are not fools.

Baiyuensheng: I know, you know and God knows.
