Kelantan Menteri Besar Nik Abdul Aziz Nik Mat said he cannot understand the attacks directed at PAS for its cooperation with DAP, as the latter has not disturbed PAS.

Several papers including the New Straits Times, Utusan Malaysia , Berita Harian and also Sinar Harian quoted the PAS spiritual leader as saying PAS needs DAP in the 13th general election.

The octogenarian said he does not know why some people claimed that the party had caved in to DAP’s political demands and had deviated from its own struggle.

NONE Some PAS members may have got carried away by reports in the media, Nik Aziz said, adding that the party does not control them as it does not have newspapers or radio and television stations.

“So every time the people switch on their radio or television, the only news they hear is about Umno. The same thing with reading newspapers,” he remarked.

He was commenting on PAS life member and national laureate Shahnon Ahmad’s assertions that the party is not promoting its original struggles as before.

Meanwhile, Shahnon continue his scathing attack on PAS as quoted in Berita Harian ’s front page today, in which he was reported as saying that the Anwar's supporters in the party had resulted in the Islamist party adhering to the DAP and PKR.

He said that it is made much worse when the religious scholars are seen to be sidelined from the party’s national leadership, resulting in the party losing its credibility in protecting the sanctity of Islam.

“This resulted in Malays, including PAS members, questioning the direction of the party,” he was quoted as saying. Anwarinas is the term used to refer to those PAS leaders who are said to be close to Anwar Ibrahim, who are sometimes also labelled as ‘Erdogans’.

azlan Meanwhile, the newspapers downplayed the issue of the RM40 million allegedly transferred by logging entrepreneur Michael Chia to Sabah Umno and not the Chief Minister Musa Aman.

This resulted in the Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission not taking any action as there were allegedly no elements of corruption.

Only the The Sun, The Star and Berita Harian carried the report.

There were no reports at all in the papers over Malaysiakini ’s revelation of the alleged meeting between Prime Minister Najib Abdul Razak with currency speculator George Soros in New York two years ago.
