Flamboyant Tourism Minister Dr Ng Yen Yen said today she would love to dance in the Gangnam style with South Korean pop sensation Psy at the BN Chinese New Year open house to be held in Penang.

“I would love to dance (with Psy) if I had the chance,” Ng said.

NONE Asked whether she could dance in the Gangnam style, Ng ( left in photo ), clad in a red kebaya , stood up and performed part of the signature dance, catching many off guard and those at the press conference bursting  into laughter.

Ng brushed off allegations that BN was using Psy to win popularity and to recapture Penang, saying that the BN did not consider Psy’s appearance as a “bid to win votes”.

“Malaysians love to speculate, Malaysians love to jump to conclusions,” she complained, referring to widespread speculation that the federal government and BN were footing Psy’s bill and wished to win votes through the singer.

She said all Malaysians loved to be happy and bringing Psy here would make the people happy.

“Do you think Psy is interested in who wins? I don’t think Psy is interested,” she said.

“(I think) Psy doesn’t want to make himself a (political) tool.”

The MCA Penang chief said with his one billion YouTube hits, Psy's coming to Malaysia would make Penang “famous overnight”.

NONE “Psy would like to come to a place he trusts,  Psy would like to come to a place where the prime minister (Najib Abdul Razak) is so well-known” she said.

Ng added that Psy must have heard of Malaysia doing very well and the country’s premier doing a lot in transformation.

Jokingly, Ng said, “It’s interesting to know that the women and students in the country know that Psy is a man.

“I promise you, Psy will dress very well, Psy will make sure he covers himself up,” she said.

Ng was obviously responding to a news report where PAS spiritual adviser Nik Abdul Aziz Nik Mat had mistaken Psy for a female artist and said ‘she’ should cover ‘her’ ‘aurat’ during the performance.

Echoing Ng’s statement, Wanita MCA secretary-general Chew Lee Giok slammed Nik Aziz as being regressive, and for not following the current global trend.

“Nik Aziz is still resting on his laurels, living within his own language and culture. How can he become a national leader?” Chew asked.

As such, she said, Nik Aziz’s feudal mindset would be detrimental to the non-Muslims' rights should Pakatan win federal power in the coming general election.
