After Gangnam Style, it's bye-bye BN style
YOURSAY ‘Gangnam Style pokes fun at people who are materialistic, vain and superficial - exactly like our tourism minister.'
Unspin: If Tourism Minister Ng Yen Yen understands the true meaning of ‘Gangnam Style' satire, she would not be so eager to dance to the song.
‘Gangnam Style' pokes fun at people who are materialistic, vain and superficial - exactly like our tourism minister and all the other leaders in BN.
Visu: Psy's Gangnam Style is not about sexy ladies and riding horses, which everyone seems to think. Instead, it is a satire about the lifestyle of those who are trying to live the ‘Gangnam Style' of excess materialism.
It pokes fun at those who are chasing rainbows and dreaming of becoming a resident in Gangnam (a well-heel district in Seoul) someday, much like those wanting to live the Hollywood lifestyle.
Just listen to the lyrics (in Korean or English) and you will see how Psy is being sarcastic about the whole notion of ‘Gangnam Style' being real and tangible, much like Hans Christian Andersen's ‘The Emperor's New Clothes'.
Timothy: Just wondering whether Psy will use his own script or will it be written by BN? Why don't the PM and DPM lead the cabinet to do a Gangnam on stage. They may get some votes from the Gangnam fanatics.
On a serious note, after one hour of Gangnam then what? Will there be less corruption, less religious and racial extremism? More opportunities for the minority groups?
Crime rates will decrease? Our education standards will improve? Dr Mahathir Mohamad-sponsored Perkasa will no longer issue silly threats? The stateless will get citizenship?
Ng Yen Yen, after Gangnam then what?
Lee Choon Wah: Enjoy it while you can, BN. This is your last big celebration. In the coming two months, Malaysians will celebrate the biggest party ever, bye-bye BN style.
Anonymous #42402094: This is a day of shocks for me. Even before I can recover from the shock of watching the PM play the drums for a lion dance, here comes the horse dance. It looks like everyone is going nuts.
iVote: If Ng Yen Yen should realise that the support for BN is waning with the constant procrastination over the general election.
Even their stronghold states are in jeopardy. She can dance her last dance while in office and celebrate her farewell as a tourism minister.
Louis: Yen Yen, surely Psy is not interested in who wins the election, but is interested in the millions which BN will foolishly fork out for a 30-minute appearance.
Yes, Yen Yen, you better dance to your heart's content on Monday for that might be the last dance for MCA leaders before they are bundled into oblivion.
Gods Messenger: MCA will make Penang a tourist attraction with this South Korean performer. It's good for Penang tourism.
But the credit should go to the state government for giving them a permit to hold the event. Unlike BN, which will not allow Pakatan Rakyat to hold such events.
2LAN: Even a child can see that the appearance of Psy is to bring the crowd to BN's party, otherwise no one would be interested. Fifty-five years and suddenly they want to be so nice to the Chinese. Too little, too late.
YF: What Yen Yen is really saying is that she wants to do the Ubah Style and see Umno lose big time. Welcome to the Year of the Snake, Yen Yen. The frogs will be snake fodder this year.
Smiley: It is about the new Penang, madam minister. I suggest you wipe that grin off your face. You are getting to the point of embarrassing not only yourself but the Malaysian people.
Onyourtoes: I told you fellows earlier, this is the biggest diversion and distraction ever instituted.
See, overnight they expect us to forget about the National Feedlot Corporation (NFC), the Port Klang Free Zone (PKFZ), Altantuya Shaariibuu, private investigator P Balasubramaniam, carpet trader Deepak Jaikishan, political aide Teoh Beng Hock (TBH), security guard C Sugumar, the submarine commissions, illegal blue ICs, electoral fraud, Lynas, and many more.
We Malaysians must have the will to create history. Don't turn up for the show; we shall simultaneously destroy BN and this demigod Psy.
Changeagent: I might be alone here, but I would like to applaud Ng Yen Yen for entertaining the press conference with her impromptu Gangnam-style moves.
She has shown that with a bit of creative flair and intuitive imagination, our local politicians can be just as entertaining as any international superstars like Psy.
I suggest that BN engage her as the headline act for their Penang Chinese New Year open house. The would be a very good way to save the taxpayers RM1.5 million of unnecessary spending.
Abuminable: Some people deserve to fall flat on their faces - and Ng Yen Yen happens to be one of these. There are loads of them in BN.
Cogito Ergo Sum: I'll tell you what is really vulgar - Ng Yen Yen dancing the Gangnam! Have you and your cabinet colleagues now been reduced to prancing about to woo and entertain voters? It won't work.
