Face it, PAS deserved to lose Kedah

YOURSAY 'Former Kedah MB Azizan Abdul Razak may be good as an agama teacher, but I wouldn't trust him to run a mini market.'

'Kedah folk have had enough of Pakatan's nonsense'

your say Changeagent: Kedah BN chief Ahmad Bashah is spot on here. Pakatan Rakyat was given a strong mandate by the people of Kedah in 2008, and they stuffed it up royally through internal bickering, indiscipline, arrogance and sheer incompetence.

This is a good reminder for the Pakatan coalition to never again take voters' support for granted in the future.

Fair Play: Frankly, Pakatan deserved to lose because of the incompetency of the PAS MB and his treatment of the other communities.

Makcik Har: Pakatan is like a school with lots of teachers but no headmaster. Opposition Leader Anwar Ibrahim should be the headmaster and talk to those people with liabilities.

Azizan Abdul Razak should have been called in and told off from the very beginning for nonsense like increasing the bumiputera discount for houses, etc. Azizan may be good as an agama teacher but I wouldn't trust him to run a mini market.

PAS deputy spiritual leader Harun Din should have been called in for this hudud nonsense. Which is your priority: to take over Putrajaya so that we can overhaul the EC, MACC, PDRM, judiciary or chopping of somebody's hands of thieves, which is really an academic cause because hudud can never materialise vis a vis the constitution?

I am glad these two jokers lost. People are not stupid. How about PAS chief Abdul Hadi Awang? What is he talking about? Pictures of Marx and Lenin on PSM's wall. So what if there really were? And that is good enough to go against the good doctor?

PAS, better be careful. Tok Guru Nik Aziz Nik Mat is revered for his simple lifestyle. Once he is gone, PAS will go unless there is a revamp. We are not stupid.

Najib now is pitting the Malays against the Chinese in true Umno fashion by calling this election a ‘Chinese tsunami'. Actually it is more of an 'urban tsunami'. Najib's racial tack is not healthy, but the kampung Malays will fall for it as usual.

One goon on television went on to say Lim Kit Siang won by a 15,000-majority because Chinese from UK, Australia, Singapore, etc, came back to vote for him.

It is imperative that Anwar removes the weeds in his alliance. Please help us help you. We have low tolerance for nonsense. Don't give up just yet.

Anonymous #19098644: As far as Umno's losses are concerned, the real issue was the urban-rural divide rather than racial polarisation. Don't tell me that with 73 to 83 percent Malay majority, Umno is still blaming the Chinese for losing the seat. How stupid.

And Pakatan lost because the administration was incompetent. In Selangor and Penang where they were competent, they increased their majority.

The rakyat are not stupid, they know what is good and what is bad for them. So both the BN and Pakatan should take note. Deliver, be fair, be clean and be transparent and the rakyat will vote for you.

Multi Racial: Pakatan should learn from this. Why did they lose Kedah but yet retain Kelantan, Penang and Selangor with two-thirds majority?

It is because they did well in Kelantan, Penang and Selangor. As for Kedah, the signs were all there and former Kedah MB Azizan Abdul Razak certainly has failed.

But PAS did not intervene and allowed the situation to deteriorate. I hope this loss puts an end to PAS' hudud nonsense. PAS can't preach this policy as if there is only one religion and one race in this country.

If they want to continue that, they should not come to the national stage but confine themselves to states like Kelantan, Terengganu, Kedah and Perlis.

TheSilentMajority: I agree. Kedah was not a BN win but PAS' failure. Perhaps they felt it was more important to segregate men and women in hair saloons and cinema's than to deal with the economy and development and the rakyat's needs? A bad government is a bad government. Period.

Only if you cloud that judgement with 'loyalty', race, religion and 'good deeds' (read handouts) will a bad government still appear 'okay'. We seem to have a country full of examples of that, but at least in Kedah the right guys got the boot.

I want change badly, but not exchange corruption and injustice with incompetence.

Fairnessforall: Azizan is the cause of Pakatan losing Kedah. PAS should have sacked him a long time ago. It seems that PAS' hudud platform has contributed to losses not only in Kedah but in many other places.

Many people I have spoken to say that if Pakatan comes to power, PAS will implement hudud and PAS has only itself to blame for this perception. Even in Negeri Sembilan where DAP won all the seats it contested, PAS lost all the seats.

PAS needs to sit down and reflect on their policies and they need to understand that this is a multiracial country and you cannot force your religion on others.

Mr KJ John: The former MB should take full blame for this fiasco and resign as PAS commissioner for Kedah.

PAS fails to learn Terengganu lesson
