Housing and Urban Wellbeing Minister Abdul Rahman Dahlan said that the DAP and its vice-chairperson Teresa Kok should not play victim when threatened by Muslim groups.

In a series of tweets, he said this was because DAP has "relentlessly attacked the position of Malays and Muslims".

"Maybe the DAP don't understand. To Malays, insulting the Agong and Islam is more painful and degrading than a slap.

"Since 2008, the DAP has relentlessly attacked the position of Malays and Islam. When there is a reaction from Malays, the DAP acts as if they are victims. Crazy!" he said.

He was then asked by DAP's Segambut MP Lim Lip Eng whether this means it is "okay to offer someone money to slap you (Abdul Rahman - left )".

To this, the minister tersely said: "Don't act stupid, YB. You reap what you sow!"

Malaysiakini has contacted Abdul Rahman, who is also Umno's Kota Belud MP, to ask if he would like elaborate or clarify the tweets but he has yet to respond.

'DAP doesn't understand Malay psyche'

His tweets received positive response from some netizens who agreed that DAP are out of touch with the Malay psyche.

One Twitter user claimed that political satire is seen by Malays as "kurang ajar" (insolent) while another questioned if the DAP was only pretending not to understand how Malays think and feel.

Abdul Rahman is the second Umno minister to dismiss the threats made against Kok.

Earlier today, Home Minister Ahmad Zahid Hamidi said there was no need for police to investigate the matter as no violence had actually taken place.

On Thursday, a group of Muslim NGOs offered a RM500 reward to those who can record a video of themselves slapping Kok for disrespecting Malays and Muslims. The reward was later increased to RM1,200.

They also slaughtered chickens and smeared the blood all over a banner depicting Kok, DAP advisor Lim Kit Siang, DAP secretary-general Lim Guan Eng and PKR's Machang Bubok assemblyperson Lee Khai Loon. Kok has lodged a police report.

Lampooning BN personalities

Earlier scores of police reports were lodged against Kok for a political satire video she produced for Chinese New Year.

Although accused of making fun of BN leaders and prime minister's wife Rosmah Mansor, Kok maintains that no names were mentioned.

She pointed out that the satire touched on issues faced by the rakyat regardless of race, such as crime, corruption and security.

A flashmob organised by Lee in response to Prime Minister Najib Abdul Razak's statement regarding the price of kangkung, also received similar response from Malay NGOs.

They said Lee's act of stuffing kangkung into the mouth of a Najib effigy was disrespectful to Malays.

Lee was investigated for criminal defamation but maintains that he was only making a statement on rising cost of living which affect all races.
