Candidates agree not to engage in personal attacks
Barisan Nasional (BN) candidate Mah Siew Keong said he and his challenger Dyana Sofya Mohd Daud, from DAP, had agreed to make the Teluk Intan by-election better than others before and clean by not engaging in personal attacks while campaigning.

Thus, he hoped DAP leaders would not resort to slandering him and BN like what happened yesterday, where BN was alleged to have distributed a photo of a Dyana Sofya (left) look-alike wearing a bikini.
"BN will never do that as it will create more anger," Mah said.
Meanwhile, Gerakan and MCA are intensifying face-to-face campaigning in the by-election to get closer to the voters to win their support.
Mah, 53, said he himself would step up the strategy of house-to-house visits right down to the grassroots.
The strategy is seen to be more effective in getting feedback and in understanding the problems faced by the area's voters, as well as facilitating the channelling of assistance directly to those in need compared to big-scale ceramah and get-together sessions.
Mah (right) told this to reporters after visiting traders in Jalan Sungai Nibong, in Teluk Intan, today.
The Gerakan president said going to the ground was the best form of campaigning as it gave him the opportunity to personally meet the voters.
Meanwhile, MCA president Liow Tiong Lai is confident that BN will be able to regain Chinese support in this by-election as the party has been intensively going to the ground to meet them, especially in the housing and commercial areas.
"Teluk Intan residents are hoping for development projects which for long have not been coming (since the DAP won the seat in the 2008 and 2013 elections).
"They want infrastructural development and flood-mitigation projects as these are big issues in the area," he said after visiting the MCA operations room in Teluk Intan today.
Liow (left) said the MCA machinery would be going all out to ensure victory for Mah, as well as to assist the problems faced by the Chinese community.
"We have 5,000 members and we will engage them from now on," he added.
Liow also noted that the residents here unhappy that DAP did not appear to act aggressively against PAS' plan to implement hudud in Kelantan.
"They feel that DAP has played them out and washed its hands off its responsibility over the hudud issue.
"They feel it is DAP's responsibility to prevent PAS from implementing hudud, but the party is avoiding that responsibility," he said.
