YOURSAY ‘Dyana’s appearance is irrelevant. What is important is what she represents.’
Rahman: Only the crass vote for a pretty face
Gerard Lourdesamy:
Better to vote for a "pretty face" than the ugly Umno gangsters, thugs, mobsters and rioters who behaved in a "celaka" manner in Penang, Kuala Lumpur and Kuantan last week.
This is the real face of Umno for you. Allegedly, the epitome of Malay culture, manners and "adat" and all pious and righteous Muslims.
If one non-Malay allegedly insulted them, rioting and arson is justified. But if they insult non-Malays on a regular basis, we must keep quiet and bear with it.
We must praise Almighty God for the rational and sensible ordinary Malays and non-Malays out there who have prevented civil war from breaking out in this country so far, given the daily dosage of racial and religious provocations and sentiments from radical groups.
Fairnsquare: Dyana is not only a pretty face, she has brains that seems to be lacking in any person who claims she is just a pretty face.
Her calibre far outshines those of may politicians, including Ibrahim Ali and Zulkifli Noordin. She is respectful of her opponent, Mah Siew Keong, and does not resort to gutter politics.
Only people with calibre are able to react with decorum. Abdul Rahman Dahlan, being a minister, should do his homework and read up on Dyana's comments on key issues.
Instead of countering her allegations, these politicians resort to gutter, bikini and lipstick politics.
Green Penang: Only stupid people will fail to see beyond the candidate's beauty. Anyone who can appreciate the wittiness of her responses to the many attempts to smear and tear her down knows that Dyana is more than a pretty face.
Jiminy Qrikert: Umno is now truly scraping the bottom of the barrel in its desperate search for relevant issues to discredit Dyana.
From attacking her as a traitorous Malay to questioning her mother's parenting ability, taking her to task as a rookie, heckling her and now ridiculing her looks? Umno is pathetic, celaka and directionless.
Wg321: A vote for Dyana is a vote against that Mafia leader who represents the Umno mob that threatened to burn down the DAP headquarters. Tomorrow they may want to burn down our houses.
All voters in Telok Intan must vote for Dyana on behalf of DAP to show our revulsion against Umno mobs who go on rampages in Penang, Kuala Lumpur and Kuantan against DAP at the slightest excuse.
Dyana’s appearance is irrelevant. What is important is what Dyana represents. Mah Siew Keong represents Umno-BN which indulges in mega corruption, thuggery, abuse of powers, cronyism, nepotism, kleptocracy, etc.
Anak Perak: Abdul Rahman, you must be really desperate and fearful of this pretty but very intelligent girl to make such a remark.
By making that remark, are you implying that you do not have a pretty wife or daughter who uses lipstick?
Please remember that every time you point a finger at people and call them stupid, there are three fingers pointing at you.
Myviews: A minister commenting about lipsticks and pretty face? No better ideas? What kind of leadership is this?
So far, this young lady has said all the right things and showed her intelligence by raising the right issues and brushing aside the petty things, like some goons portraying her in bikini.
It's so refreshing to have her as a candidate. A youthful approach unlike the overused and out-of-date approach of "we want to serve the people and bring development to the community" as always dished out by the BN.
If you don't believe me, just follow the pronouncements made by most, if not all, the BN leaders whenever they address the electorate. It's so painful to the ears.
Compare the difference with what this young woman has to say during her campaign. Way to go, Dyana. Just be careful not to fall into the trap set by the filth spilled from the mouths of your low quality opponents.
Jaded: Judging by her speeches and the way she carries herself, I think BN is visibly threatened by the intelligence of the new generation of politicians. She's obviously worrying the current crop of politicians who are neither pretty nor very smart.
Speaking Sense: Only stupid people would vote for a party that puts up people like Rahman as a minister.
Dyana is pretty and talks sense. Rahman is not pretty and talks non-sense.
Mushiro: Rahman is right that Dyana is pretty. Rahman is again right that Dyana puts on lipstick and has a sweet smile.
But Rahman is not smart to realise that Dyana is a smart young lawyer who is giving Umno the shivers of their life. Half of the Umno ministers are struggling to fight this young, smart and sharp lawyer.
Rahman insinuates that Dyana is not smart and yet he has to come all the way to Teluk Intan with many other Umno ministers to fight Dyana.
Randhirkicibhai: Wait a minute, Rahman Dahlan. You are married to a former TV newsreader who is pretty, and who puts on make-up and lipstick like most other women do.
Does that make you a stupid person too?
