Some Selangor businessmen and contractors are flocking to PKR No 2 man Mohamed Azmin Ali after being frustrated by Selangor Menteri Besar Abdul Khalid Ibrahim, the New Straits Times reported today.

 

NST said that this was revealed by "people in Khalid's ( right ) inner circle." Some of these businessmen, bitter after failing to win deals through open tender, are looking for fresh opportunities.

Some were "aligned to the opposition coalition since it won Selangor in 2008" and hold a grudge against Khalid for his recent willingness to work with the federal government.

 

"They are just angry (with Khalid) and now Azmin is taking a ride on their hate train. They are all hanging out with him now.

 

"The businessmen believe that if Khalid is removed (from his post), whoever the new menteri besar is, he will 'kowtow' to them. Perhaps they think that Azmin can provide them with business," said an unidentified source.

 

Yesterday, Khalid laughed off rumours that he had resigned.

 

In its report, NST also noted that Azmin ( left ) had been promised the Selangor MB post since 2008.

 

"Yes, Azmin was promised the post by (PKR defacto leader) Anwar. Everyone knows that," a source identified as "yet another Khalid supporter" was quoted saying.

 

"But now the war between Khalid and Azmin is taking on a different dimension," he added.

Meanwhile, Astro Awani online today reported Azmin as urging an end to speculation on the MB’s position. He urged all to instead close ranks and focus on Selangor’s economic development.

“My advise is to stop all speculation, we invite leaders and party members to focus on the work to develop Selangor.

“In this holy Ramadan month, let’s not throw slander around or make personal attacks. Let’s work together as one team,” Azmin said after chairing the Selangor Backbenchers Club meeting in Shah Alam.
