DAP, PAS to decide on MB change soon

DAP and PAS will decide on the proposal to change the Selangor menteri besar as well as PKR's nomination that its president Dr Wan Azizah Wan Ismail takes over the post soon.
This was revealed in a statement issued by Pakatan Rakyat's top leaders after the opposition bloc's leadership council met to discuss the issue this afternoon.
"The Pakatan Rakyat leadership has received the proposal to change the menteri besar and Wan Azizah's nomination.
"DAP and PAS will now bring the matter to their respective party leaderships for a decision to be made soon," reads the statement.
The joint statement was issued by PKR de facto leader Anwar Ibrahim, PAS deputy president Mohamad Sabu and DAP secretary-general Lim Guan Eng.
At a press conference at the Opposition Leader's office in Parliament today, Anwar denied when asked whether PKR was abusing the democratic platform by nominating Wan Azizah as menteri besar.
"We did not question it (the MB change) during the Perak (constitutional) crisis.
"Why is it when it comes to Selangor, it becomes contentious?"
Anwar also told the media not to be presumptuous if current Menteri Besar Abdul Khalid Ibrahim refuses to step down.
"There is no need to be presumptuous. We will be discussing things further with Khalid," he said.
Asked why Wan Azizah was chosen, he said that it was the party's consensus on her nomination.
Responding to a query on PKR deputy president Azmin Ali, Anwar admitted that Azmin was one of the qualified candidates.
"However, Wan Azizah's nomination was the party consensus," he reiterated.
He would not play any role in Selangor's administration, Anwar said, when his wife becomes the menteri besar.
As to whether he would continue in his role as the state's economic adviser , Anwar said there were many others qualified for that position.
