Hold EGM on MB issue, Anwar dared

A former PKR leader has challenged party de facto leader Anwar Ibrahim to hold an emergency general meeting (EGM) in order to obtain a clear mandate from the party grassroots members on replacing the Selangor menteri besar.
Zulkifli Noordin ( left ) said the grassroots must be given the opportunity to state their stand on whether Dr Wan Azizah Wan Ismail should replace Abdul Khalid Ibrahim.
“It is the grassroots members who should have the right to determine the MB position. Their right must be respected. Their right must be returned.
“So I call on the grassroots members of PKR - demand your right. Don’t be cowards to the point of lacking the courage to voice out for your rights,” he added in a blog posting.
Zulkifli, who quit PKR after a fallout with its leaders, also accused Anwar of “political treachery” and “insulting” the Selangor sultan by announcing Wan Azizah as the next MB.
He said it was wrong to reveal that Wan Azizah is slated to replace Khalid ( below left, in picture ) even before the matter is brought before the ruler.
Apart from this, Zulkifli also claimed that there was an element of corruption and abuse of power due to the relationship between Anwar and Wan Azizah ( right, in picture ).
“This is because Anwar chaired the PKR supreme council meeting (in his capacity as de facto leader) which endorsed Wan Azizah (who is his wife and party president),” he added.
Zulkifli, the former PKR Kulim Bandar Baharu MP, also described the latest development as an insult to the party’s grassroots members with regard to the removal of Khalid.
“There is no concrete reason to fire Khalid because he succeeded in steering Pakatan to a 2/3 majority in Selangor in the last election.
“Even if he is to be replaced, why Wan Azizah? Anwar himself said (previously) that there are many PKR assemblyperson capable of being appointed MB,” he added.
