Less than 48 hours before the PAS central executive committee meets to make a final stand on the Selangor crisis, the party's vice-president fires a salvo against beleaguered Menteri Besar Abdul Khalid Ibrahim.

In a hard-hitting statement, Husam Musa told Khalid that he must resign since it was the only "noble" thing to do.

"What are you waiting for?" he asked, pointing out that Khalid no longer has the legitimacy to continue as menteri besar.

"Resigning is the most respectable thing to do and is not the end of a political career," he added.

Contacted later, Husam said his statement was in line with the party's stand on the issue.

This affirms that the Islamic party has no qualms about Khalid vacating his post but is opposed to PKR president Dr Wan Azizah Wan Ismail succeeding him.

Meanwhile, Husam questioned whether Khalid was thinking about dissolving the state assembly, noting that it would only be a burden to the Sultan of Selangor.

"If you want the state assembly to be dissolved, why didn't you inform the sultan of your intention when you met him recently," he added.

'Islam does not permit betrayal'

Husam said Khalid could only expect temporary protection and support form PAS in the spirit of Pakatan Rakyat.

"The PAS president (Abdul Hadi Awang) has offered an olive branch but you have since been expelled from your party.

"Since Khalid has not been accepted as a member by either DAP or PAS, he is no longer representing the coalition," he added.

The PAS leader also reminded Khalid that the Selangor government belongs to Pakatan and not him.

"How can an independent assemblyperson continue to be Pakatan's menteri besar?" he asked.

He then reasoned that although the sultan had consented for Khalid to continue as menteri besar, the latter had a choice to decline.

Husam said Khalid cannot exploit PAS assemblypersons, Umno reps and those from PKR and DAP who are willing to defect in order to remain in power.

"It's an unmoral thing to do, it is emulating the style of Umno in Perak. Umno is PAS' adversary.

"If PAS does that, it means PAS is accepting sodomy relations," he said.

"Bringing in Umno assemblypersons to form a government with PAS while rejecting DAP and PKR which were elected lawfully is a hateful thing to do and is not allowed in Islam.

"Islam does not permit betrayal and breach of trust. The rakyat of Selangor had chosen Pakatan to be the government," he added.
