PKR to move emergency motion on Sedition Act
PKR’s Pandan MP Rafizi Ramli today said that MPs from the party will be moving for an emergency motion when the Parliament sits again in order to abolish the Sedition Act.

Rafizi ( right ) said the motion would send a “clear signal of the people’s voices” to the administration of Prime Minister Najib Abdul Razak.
“The PKR MPs will bring an emergency motion in the next Parliament sitting to immediately abolish the Sedition Act,” Rafizi told a press conference today.
Flanked by six other PKR MPs, Rafizi said that the party’s members of parliament will lobby the Dewan Rakyat speaker to ensure the motion can be tabled and debated.
“The sitting is in two month’s time, so if he does not try to include the motion into the order of the House, then (he) will have to stand up to us for two months,” he said.
Those present today include Nurul Izzah Anwar (Lembah Pantai), R Sivarasa (Subang), Wong Chen (Kelana Jaya), Dr Tan Kee Kwong (Wangsa Maju), Tian Chua (Batu) and Shamsul Iskandar Md Akin (Bukit Katil).
Among those who have come sedition dragnet include PKR’s Padang Serai MP N Surendran, who has been charged with sedition twice in two weeks over remarks made on the sodomy trial of PKR de facto leader Anwar Ibrahim.
Surendran is acting as Anwar’s lawyers for the case.
Other PKR leaders facing sedition investigations or charges include Chua and Johor PKR vice chairperson Hassan Karim.
