PKR has decided to make way for PAS in the coming Pengkalan Kubor by election, which will take place on Sept 25.

"In order to face Umno and Barisan Nasional effectively, we must stand united as Pakatan Rakyat," PKR president Dr Wan Azizah Wan Ismail said in a statement today.

Wan Azizah stressed the importance of cooperation and concensus in Pakatan Rakyat. 
 
"I believe we have to return to the wishes of the people that Pakatan Rakyat mobilises our strength to face Umno and Barisan Nasional. 
 
"The people are now faced with increase in oil prices likely to be announced before the 2015 Budget, the implementation of GST come April 2015, the Sedition Act crackdown and the continuing racial and religious attacks.
 
"We can face BN and Umno only if we give in among ourselves, understand each other and are magnanimous," said Wan Azizah. 
 
The Pengkalan Kubor seat in Kelantan fell vacant on Aug 20 following the death of its assemblyman Noor Zahidi Omar, 57, of Umno ( left ) while undergoing liver cancer treatment in Guangzhou, China.

PAS and PKR have been squabbling over the Selangor menteri besar issue when the seat fell vacant.

PAS ready to face BN

PAS spiritual leader Nik Aziz Nik Mat said PAS is ready to face BN in Pengkalan Kubor by-election, adds Bernama .

 

"We are not scared. PAS will put up a candidate who can win the seat," he told reporters when met at his home, in Kota Baharu today.    

 

Deputy Prime Minister Muhyiddin Yassin is exected to name the BN canddidate for Pengkalan Kubor by-election tomorrow.    

 

PKR president Dr Wan Azizah Wan Ismail today announced that the party will make way for PAS to contest the by election.  

  

Pengkalan Kubor seat fell vacant following the death of Noor Zahidi  Omar, 57, due to liver cancer in China on Aug 20.    

At the last general election, Noor Zahidi (BN) beat Saharun Ibrahim (PKR)  and Izat Bukhary Ismail Bukhary (independent) with a majority of 1,736 votes.
