Selangor Menteri Besar Azmin Ali has denied reports that the executive council (exco) member composition will remain at status quo.

"The report on distribution of the exco quota is inaccurate as the negotiations is ongoing," he said on Twitter later today.

Malaysiakini earlier reported him as saying that the composition will remain at four PAS assemblypersons, three from PKR and three from DAP.

Azmin: I have presented the names of the exco members to his royal highness.

Alhamdulillah, he has consented to the list that I have presented and I will make the announcement tomorrow.

Reporter: How many will be on the exco?

Ten.

Reporter: The same composition?

(It) remains.

Tomorrow, tomorrow. I am grateful that his royal highness has consented to the list I presented. I will make the announcement tomorrow morning.

Quota unclear

It is still unclear if this means that PAS will have four representatives on the exco, while PKR and DAP remains with three reps each.

Azmin had taken two days after being sworn in as menteri besar to discuss the exco list with PKR, DAP and PAS before meeting the sultan to obtain his consent.

PKR Wanita chief Zuraida Kamaruddin ( left ) yesterday called for the PAS exco quota to be slashed , claiming that PAS did not support PKR during the MB crisis.

Malaysiakini understands that only one PKR exco will be re-appointed – Sementa assemblyperson Dr Daroyah Alwi – who held the health, entrepreneur development, science, technology and innovation portfolio.

Bukit Lanjan's Elizabeth Wong and Batu Tiga’s Rodziah Ismail are expected to be asked to give way to others.

The two are expected to be replaced by Batu Caves assemblyperson Amiruddin Shari and Rawang assemblyperson Gan Pei Nei.

However, state assembly deputy speaker Nik Nazmi Nik Ahmad and Sri Muda assemblyperson Shuhaimi Shafiei also stood a chance at being appointed as exco members.

PAS wants four seats

DAP, meanwhile, is expected to retain Sungai Pinang state assemblyperson Teng Chang Khim (right) and Seri Kembangan’s Ean Yong Hian Wah.

Kota Alam Shah's V Ganabatirao is also expected to retain his post although there were rumours that Bukit Gasing's R Rajiv may replace him.

Selangor PAS commissioner Iskandar Ab Samad yesterday defended the party's four exco seats and said that calls for its quota to be reduced were unreasonable.

The Cempaka state assemblyperson, as well as Sabak's Sallehen Mukhyi and Sijangkang's Dr Yunus Hairi are expected to retain their posts.

However, some in PAS were of the view that Selat Kelang state assemblyperson Dr Halimah Ali will be replaced as she has served as exco member since 2008.
