Unleashing an acerbic salvo on Penang Chief Minister Lim Guan Eng, the state’s Perkasa leader accused him of safeguarding the interests of the rich and oppressing the poor.

Describing him as “heartless and cruel,” Mohd Rizuad Mohd Azudin called on the DAP leader and his allies to cease comparing the state administration with the leadership of Caliph Umar Abdul Aziz, an expert Islamic jurist best known for his pious and just nature.

“In the two terms of administering Penang, they (DAP) have betrayed the poor and hapless.

“What is more disheartening is that the DAP state government oppresses one group while showering another with all sorts of privileges.

“Is this what you call a fair, transparent and effective administration?” Rizuad ( right ) asked in a report published on Umno Online today.

He said the list of villages that have been demolished and those slated to meet a similar fate revealed the DAP leader’s true face.

Rizuad said the DAP government’s actions revealed that it did not “walk the talk” because the poor only matter to the party during elections.

“The DAP government practices selective administration... the rich will be defended and given privileges while the poor and underprivileged will be oppressed.

“During ceramah, they claim to champion the people. But the people of this state (Penang) know who they really champion,” he added.

Calling for an end to the “charade”, Rizuad said the demolition of villages was merely the tip of the iceberg with regard to DAP’s “atrocities”, which would eventually be exposed.

Yesterday, a pro-Umno website had accused the Penang government of " ethnic cleansing ", claiming that it wanted to drive the Malays away from the island.
