Two Perak lawmakers today fumed over the lack of visible development in Perak despite billions of ringgit allocated to the state under the 10th Malaysia Plan.

 

Batu Gajah MP V Sivakumar and Lumut MP Mohd Imran Abdul Hamid said today in a press conference that the RM8.3 billion spent is not seen, as there are still many uncompleted and overdue major projects.

 

Mohd Imran said that at least two major road projects, worth more than RM500 million, have not been completed, while a jetty costing RM20 million, was swiftly completed but remain unused.

 

The state also has one of the largest number of poor families in the nation.

 

"We still have 122,000 families in poverty, which is 12.2 percent of the nationwide figure," Sivakumar claimed.

Mohd Imran said that a four-lane highway from Teluk Intan to Manjung worth over RM500 million, and another major road from Pantai Remis and Changkat Jering, is yet to be built despite being approved some time ago.
 
In contrast, he claimed that  a jetty and an airport built in Pangkor island, where Perak menteri besar Zambry Abdul Kadir's constituency is, was completed swiftly, but is hardly used.
