Despite pressure from DAP, PAS president Abdul Hadi Awang today said it was up to him to decide whether to attend the Pakatan Rakyat leadership council meetings.

 
"I don't need to be asked, If I want to attend, I will attend," he told journalists in Gombak today.
 
He was asked to respond to a resolution passed by the DAP central executive committee urging Abdul Hadi to attend the coalition's meetings.
 
When pressed if he will attend the next Pakatan leadership meeting, he merely replied: "That's up to me on whether to attend or not".

Hadi declined to respond further when asked again if he will be present at the next meeting.

Shah Alam MP Khalid Samad, who was accompanying Hadi, said DAP was being “petty” by making an issue of the matter.

“DAP shouldn't make too much an issue... it’s petty,” he said.

Last Sunday, Lim Guan Eng had criticised Hadi for skipping Pakatan leadership meetings, stating that it made cooperating with PAS difficult.

Lim said this is because Hadi would then overrule decision made by his lieutenants who attended the meetings in his place.

However, PAS information chief Mahfuz Omar on Thursday shot back, telling DAP not to pressure the Islamic party on the matter.

Responding to this, Lim in a statement today said PAS should not misunderstand DAP’s intention, stressing that he only wanted to see a strong Pakatan.
