Selangor  Menteri Besar Mohamed Azmin Ali has been told not to retain Anwar Ibrahim as the state's economic adviser.

The proposal was made by Selangor opposition leader Shamsudin Lias today.

He said Anwar, whom he referred to as "ketum", should not be kept in the position due to the many crises sparked off by the latter in the state.

"Ketum" is the abbreviation for "ketua umum" or "de facto leader". The term was originally coined by the anti-Anwar faction in PKR as it also refers to an intoxicating drink.

Shamsudin blamed the PKR supremo for the 'Kajang Move' and Selangor menteri besar imbroglio.

"Even though the ultimate power lies with the menteri besar to retain the position, I hope that he will take into account the silent majority in Selangor who do not want the position of state economic adviser to exist as it only causes crisis and turmoil," he told the state assembly.

Shamsudin said that 'Kajang Move' was a failure and if it had been successful, Azmin would not be the menteri besar.

Meanwhile, DAP Sekinchan assemblyperon Ng Suee Lim asked Shamsudin to clarify what he meant by the term “ketum”

He asked if the Umno assemblyperson meant ‘ketum’ as in the de facto leader or if he was referring to the banned substance.

Following this, Deputy Speaker Shafee Ngah warned Shamsudin, asking him to use proper terminologies.

"Avoid terms that are not nice to hear," he added.

Shamsudin, however, denied that he was mocking Anwar, stating that he used the term in reference to the latter being PKR's de facto leader.

"If there is a wrong impression or ill will, I do not know. I am not involved. I laugh all the time, I have no bad intentions," he said.
