UMNO AGM Undoubtedly one of the stars of the show, Home Minister Ahmad Zahidi whipped up the spirit of Umno delegates during his winding-up speech this afternoon.

Among others, the Umno vice-president implored delegates to be in battle mode for the next general election.

He then unveiled a unit dubbed, "Keris 2314", which is a cadreship system to help boost the quality and loyalty of Umno members.

"What is Keris 2134? Lucky there are no ‘kaki nombor’ (four-digit gaming punters) in this hall, but the 4D shop is still open," he said to laughter.

He then explained that the number "23" stood for regaining two-thirds majority in Parliament and the number "14" referred to the 14th general election.

As for the word “keris” itself, he said the ‘k’ stood for ‘karisma’ (charisma), ‘e’ for ‘ehsan’ (compassion), ‘r’ for ‘rasional’ (rational), ‘i’ for ‘iltizam’ (committed) and ‘s’ for ‘setia’ (loyal).                   

"We are making it compulsory, not only for delegates, division chiefs, committee members to attend.

"Even the supreme council, as well as the president and deputy president have agreed to participate in this programme," he added.

Zaid then ended his speech with a poem, calling on the warriors of the Malay race to rise.
