PKR and DAP are "not interested" in participating in a briefing by the Kelantan state government to PAS leaders this Sunday regarding the state's plans to implement the hudud law.

 

PKR vice-president Tian Chua and DAP publicity secretary Tony Pua said the Pakatan Rakyat component parties will not invite themselves to the briefing to hear the state government out.

However, both of them did not explicitly state whether they had been invited by PAS to sit together in the briefing.

"We are not interested; it is not in our agenda. Why should we participate in it?" Chua asked when contacted by Malaysiakini .

 

Similarly, Pua responded snidely by saying that PAS could go on acting on its own accord.

 

"I don't know anything. That is a PAS issue. They made a decision without any discussions with us. They think they'll just do what they feel like doing," the DAP MP said.

Yesterday, PAS central committee members claimed that the committee did not agree about the state government’s plans to call for a special sitting on Monday to push for hudud implementation in the state.

Pakatan Rakyat was also never briefed about this matter before the state announced the special sitting, as admitted by PAS information chief Mahfuz Omar yesterday.

After the special sitting, the state government would still need to table a Private Member's Bill in Parliament before hudud can be executed in the state.

DAP has already indicated its willingness to leave PAS out of Pakatan Rakyat if the Islamic party continue with its hudud agenda.

"Let's see what happens on the 29th," Pua said.
