Turning the tables, Umno division leader Syed Ali Alhabshee criticised Anwar Ibrahim and his wife Dr Wan Azizah Wan Ismail, who are vacationing in New Zealand, for not returning.
Following the golf fiasco, a photograph of the opposition couple cycling in New Zealand also emerged.
However, Anwar is scheduled to arrive at the Kota Bharu airport this evening.
Apart from dishing out criticisms, Syed Ali said opposition leaders like Anwar have not done anything to help the victims.
“They belittle the government’s efforts to help the victims but until now there are no signs of PKR president Wan Azizah in Kelantan,” he was quoted as saying by Umno Online .
The Cheras Umno chief also questioned what efforts have been undertaken by Anwar, his wife, and DAP supremo Lim Kit Siang with regard to the flood victims.
Syed Ali was commenting on the brickbats over rice bags given to the victims in Kelantan bearing the images of Najib and BN representatives.

He denied the opposition’s allegation that BN was taking advantage of the flood situation.
“This is not an issue. There is nothing wrong in the government doing this.
“In fact, this should be done to show the people of Kelantan that the BN government is with them during the good and bad times.
“What is most important is that the aid reaches the victims,” he added.
Syed Ali ( right ) said the BN government under Najib always puts the people first and does what is necessary to alleviate their burden.
On the other hand, he said Anwar, who often claims to champion the people, is currently abroad.
“If Najib can cut short his vacation, why can’t Anwar or Wan Azizah do the same? This shows that they are irresponsible and give more importance to their personal agenda.
“They (the opposition) politicise the flood situation, question the giving of aid and whatever related to the government, but they never go to the ground to be with the people,” he added.
Previously, Wan Azizah, who is also the Kajang assemblyperson, was criticised for not attending to her constituents when the area was hit by flash floods.
