Menteri Besar Azmin Ali has urged the state to strengthen its ties with federal and BN-led state governments to ensure people’s needs remain the top priority.

"We as a state government have already started a collaborative ( temutembung ) approach with the BN government at the federal level," he was quoted in Sinar Harian today .

Azmin, who is also PKR's deputy president, said this is to ensure that the people remain a top priority in terms of humanitarianism, education and the economy.

The Malay daily quoted him speaking to reporters after the launch of 'Program Malam Generasi Idaman Selangor ' (GeMS) at Stadium Malawati in Shah Alam yesterday.

Meanwhile, the chairperson of BN Kelantan Mustapa Mohamed said that cooperation between the two parties - BN and PAS - already exists.

He was responding to an article in Sinar Harian titled " Demi Rakyat " (For the people's sake), in which it quoted the daily’s publisher Hussamuddin Yakob's suggestion that an Umno-PAS coalition might be the  only solution for Kelantan in handling the flood disaster.

Hussamuddin ( middle in pic ) said the people in Kelantan would continue to suffer from being in the midst of a power struggle between the two political parties, when what the people needed now was help.

Mustapa, who is also the chairperson of the committee on floods in Kelantan, said that the two parties have a close relationship in handling the situation now.

"For the floods, we have already started a joint government because in this (flood) committee, I am the chairperson and Mohd Faudzi Che Mamat, as Kelantan state secretary, is the deputy.

"We have put politics aside since day one of the committee's formation, and we have been working together," he was quoted as saying.
