BN would never offer PKR de facto leader Anwar Ibrahim the deputy prime minister’s post because he has a poor success rate, said Housing and Local Government Minister Abdul Rahman Dahlan.

Abdul Rahman was responding to PKR vice president Nurul Izzah Anwar’s claim that her father was offered the post by BN chairperson and Prime Minister Najib Abdul Razak after the 13 th general election.

"BN offering DPM post Anwar who lost all four general elections in a row? Nurul, get a grip on yourself!

"Nurul should know Anwar lied when he said he was (a) fighter for democracy. He tried to topple the government on Sep 16, 2008, remember?" he asked on Twitter.

Anwar had in 2008 said that Pakatan Rakyat will form a new government on Sep 16 because BN representatives were crossing over. It never materialised.

Nurul Izzah (right) revealed that Najib offered Anwar a deal in a speech in Penang yesterday.

The Lembah Pantai MP spoke to about 1,000 people who attended the rally organised to show solidarity for Anwar, who is in jail after convicted of sodomy on Feb 10.

"Ignore PAS, ignore DAP, accept the DPM’s post, and let’s form the government…let us be happy together, Najib had told Anwar," Nurul Izzah said.

"What was Anwar’s decision? He totally rejected the offer, because in life or death, we can only work in a coalition if it is based on principles, which cannot be bought or sold."
