A PAS lawmaker has lodged a police report against controversial writer cum lecturer Ridhuan Tee Abdullah over the latter's column in Sinar Harian last week where he criticised the attitude of the Chinese in Malaysia.

Raja Kamarul Baharin Raja Ahmad Shah ( right ), the Kuala Terengganu MP, lodged the report against the Universiti Sultan Zainal Abidin (UniSZA) social sciences lecturer at the Kuala Terengganu police station on March 20.

UniSZA is also located in Kuala Terengganu and Raja Kamarul said that some of his constituents were left deeply unhappy with Ridhuan's writings despite him being a lecturer at a university there.

In his column on March 16, Ridhuan said Agriculture and Agro-Based Industries Ismail Sabri Yaakob should not apologise to the Chinese for insinuating that the Chinese traders were responsible for not bringing down prices of goods despite the plummeting oil prices.

'Father cheated Malay customers'

In his column titled ' Maaf atau tidak, sama sahaja ,' Ridhuan, a Muslim convert, had accused his father of cheating.

Ridhuan had written that when he was a child in a Malay village, his Chinese father who ran a sundry shop there would ask him to mix petrol with kerosene and white rice with brown rice as well as to alter weights and measures when dealing with customers.

'In short, I was asked to do anything that could increase profits even if such things were wrong." he wrote.

In his police report, Raja Kamarul said that Ridhuan’s statement created “animosity between races” and was “belittling the Chinese”.

“I had also written in to the vice-chancellor of UniSZA to record my disappointment with Ridhuan’s writing,” he said.

He urged the IGP to pay special attention to this matter.
